My second childhood.

Today, it’s just me and Ian hanging out at the house and I’m getting to relive my childhood again. For a couple of decades a lot of my stuff sat in boxes in my parents’ attic, just occupying space. Of course, I thought some of my toys would some day be really valuable and I’d make a killing with them. Numerous times since then I’ve realized the true value they hold.

This afternoon, just before his nap time, Ian and I were in the floor playing with a odd collection of action figures. These guys ranged from 25 years old to practically new. Original Star Wars action figures to the ultra-muscled Batman figures that are available today. While playing with Ian, I realized just exactly where the true value in old toys exists. It exists in those little moments on the living room floor when I get to play with my kids. It’s possible that some of the original action figures might be worth a few bucks, but not enough to replace the fun we had today.

Here are a few of my original guys from the first three Star Wars movies,,,, and this is really only a mere sampling of the collection I ended up with. Their appearance had gone down a bit, but that’s what happens when you play hard with them… just ask Ian.

Now, this one… the poor thing. I’m not sure where the rest of it is. It doesn’t matter I guess, as it still seems fun to play with.
